Your Opportunity!

A Queensland parliamentary committee wants to hear your views on alcohol related violence in Queensland.

The Law, Justice and Safety Committee is conducting an inquiry into alcohol related violence in Queensland, with a focus on community safety and preventative measures to reduce levels of alcohol-related violence.

We see this as the next logical step in ensuring the QLD Government hears the voices of our community. Go here to express them

Thankyou!

big thankyou to all those people who have literally inundated us with petitions, letters and support in this campaign!

The campaign is certainly still alive with recent radio interviews by TASC CEO Dan Toombs and South QLD Law Michael Maguire.  Obviously, we're still waiting for the outcome of the applications, but in the meantime, please do inundate the Licencing Authority with your own personal objections.

Interesting to note that the recent incident at the Cube Hotel, where a fellow was brandishing a replica gun at approximately 10.30pm has strangely been percieved by Tomba's Nightclub Manager Trevor Watts as somewhat of a defence, given the incident didn't occur in the early hours of morning.  Mr Watts allegedly went on to say that violence in the city resulting from late night consumption of alcohol and/or drugs was a rarity.

Mr Watts's opinion of course, despite its overt bias, doesn't accord with the findings of the QLD Police Service or that of the plethora of research clearly denoting the escalation in all types of violence causally related to alcohol abuse in and outside late night venues.  Stranger than fiction really!
